Event Info
The Seattle Marathon Association has teamed up with Seattle Center to bring the Seattle Marathon 10k Race: Presented by Next 50 Seattle Center. Held on Saturday, August 25th, this is the summer 10k race you've been waiting for. The race is being held in conjunction with and benefits the Seattle Center 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2012 and will be an event you won't want to miss.
Special Promotions: Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter for special promotions related to the 10k Race!
The Course
In Seattle Marathon style, the 10k will start and end at Seattle Center, traveling through downtown Seattle, past Pike Place Market overlooking the waterfront piers before turning around to head onto the Alaskan Way viaduct. The course then heads north on Aurora through Queen Anne, turning back around and exiting at Mercer to finish near the International Fountain.
Dogs on leash and strollers welcome
The ADA-compliant course is wheelchair-, dog- and stroller-friendly. We ask that walkers and parties with dogs or strollers start toward the end of the line to reduce crowding and allow runners to achieve their best time. Wheelchair and handcrank participants will start a few minutes before the rest of the 10K participants.
Water/Aid Stations
Water/Aid stations are approximately every two miles. There are 3 Water/Aid Stations on the 10k course. Talking Rain water and G Series 02 Perform Thirst Quencher in orange flavor will be available at each station, in addition to basic medical items and Honey Bucket portable toilets. GU will be available at Mile 4.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be available on Friday, August 24 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm at Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion.
T-shirts & Goody Bags
All finishers receive a complimentary short sleeve, Saucony t-shirt and goody bag. Finishers pick up their t-shirt and goody bag after the race.
Results
Unofficial results will be posted near the finish line as soon as they are available. A complete listing of official results will be posted at www.seattlemarathon.org shortly after the race.
Timing
The race is timed using Winning Time chip technology on a USATF-certified course. All 10K Race participants must wear a chip in order to appear in the results. A $40 fee will be assessed for any chips not returned by the end of the event.
