Event Info
If you’ve never been involved with the Seattle Marathon family of events, the 5K Run/Walk is a great introduction! This 3.1 mile race is perfect for both runners and walkers. Use it as a warm-up for the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon, or create a fun, family outing to burn off some of those Thanksgiving Day calories. Treat your out-of-town guests to stunning views of Seattle while doing something healthy for the entire family.

The course
The USATF–certified course follows a winding concrete path along the beautiful Seattle waterfront. The course is out–and–back, beginning and ending near Pier 70 and running through Myrtle Edwards Park. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains, Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound. Spot big ships in Elliott Bay and coastal wildlife. Discover hidden gems along the course such as a working grain terminal and the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park.

Dogs on leash and strollers welcome
The ADA–compliant course is wheelchair–, dog– and stroller–friendly. We ask that walkers and parties with dogs, wheelchairs and strollers start toward the end of the line to reduce crowding and allow runners to achieve their best time.

Results
Unofficial results will be posted near the finish line as soon as they are available. A complete listing of official results will be posted at www.seattlemarathon.org shortly after the race.

Timing
The race is timed using Winning Time chip technology on a USATF-certified course. All 5K Race participants must wear a chip in order to appear in the results. A $30 fee will be assessed for any chips not returned by the end of the event.

Awards
An Awards Ceremony will take place for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place men’s and women’s finishers. All finishers receive a complimentary t-shirt.

Parking & Transportation
Parking is available on the street and in parking garages on Western Avenue. Please allow ample time to park and pick up your race packet before the race. For the convenience of marathon participants staying at the Westin Seattle, buses will be available to transport runners between the Westin and the 5K Race start line before and after the race.

Risks

As with most sports, running a road race involves a number of inherent risks, including but not limited to tripping and falling, contact with other participants or spectators, the effects of weather, traffic and road conditions. Because the race is run on roads, streets and trails, there are posts and possible potholes along the course. Additionally, there may be other foot and bicycle traffic on the course. All participants need to be prepared to avoid obstacles and traffic. In submitting your entry, you are acknowledging your awareness and assumption of all risks associated with your participation. You are certifying that you are medically and physically fit to compete in this event safely. The Seattle Marathon Association is a member of the Road Runners Club of America and as such is required through its membership insurance to exclude entrants with bicycles, skateboards, roller skates or blades, animals (other than dogs on leash) and radio headsets. Entrants choosing to violate these safety conditions pose a danger to all participants. Persons found in violation of these safety rules will be disqualified and removed from the course.
