High School Team ChallengeFor the 2nd year, there is a special High School Team Challenge as part of the Seattle Marathon 5K Race. With the race taking place a few weeks after the Washington State Cross Country Championships, the High School Team Challenge is a perfect way for your runners to once again show off their hard work and to come together as a team during the Thanksgiving Weekend. The top three boys and top three girls teams will be given awards for both the first mile and full 5K distance. To be eligible for any awards, the entire five person team must complete the full 5K distance. All first mile and 5K distance times will be based on the official time, or gun time, per USATF rules. The teams who win the first mile awards may not necessarily win the 5K awards and vice versa. This may have an effect on your team’s race strategy. For example, if a team has excellent one mile speed, then the team may want to focus on their first mile times and then just easily jog the rest of the 5K. Rules for creating a team
