Weather Come
prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Average winter
temperature ranges in the low to mid-40s (5-7 deg. C) with cloudy
and calm skies. November weather in Seattle is very unpredictable.
There is always a chance of rain, wind, and colder temperatures.

Parking &
Transportation
Local pay lots and street parking are
available at or near the Seattle Center. The parking garage at Fourth
and Mercer will open at 5:45 am. Transportation to the start line will not be provided this year.
Transportation from the Victory Recovery Area to the Westin Hotel will be available from 9:00am until
the final participant arrives at the finish. This service is free to participants and $2.00 for family
and friends. Busses will be staged in front of the Victory Recovery Area, located in the Seattle Center
Exhibition Hall on Mercer Ave.
Walking route to Start from Westin Hotel:
You may also walk to the Start of your event by heading North on 5th Ave. Follow the Monorail track (running above 5th Ave.) to the start at 5th and Harrison. The start is approximately 8 blocks from the Westin.

Clothing
Check
Clothing Check for the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon 2008 and Half Marathon participants is located in Memorial Stadium's north side tunnel, which is located directly behind the upper stadium seats. Clothing Check will be available starting at 6:30 am. Volunteers will be available to store and retrieve your bag. A bag for clothing check will be provided in your goody bag. All bags must be clearly marked with your bib number. Under no circumstances should you bring valuables, as the Seattle Marathon Association is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Late finishers taking 6 1/2 hours or longer may claim their bag at the finish line.
Lost and found items from the course will be brought to clothing check. Contact a clothing check volunteer to locate items. All lost and found clothing not claimed at the end of race day will be donated to charity. For information on lost and found items of value, please contact the Seattle Marathon Association Office at 206.729.3660 between 9 am and 4 pm.

Timing Services and
Results
The Marathon, Marathon Walk, Half Marathon, and
Half Marathon Walk will be timed using Winning Time chip technology.
Chips must be picked up at EXPO, and worn on the ankle during the
race. Your results cannot be posted unless the chip is worn on your
ankle. The chip must be exchanged in the finish area in order to
receive a finisher’s medal. If the chip is not returned, a $30 U.S.
fee will be charged to the entrant to which the chip has been
assigned (yes, we know who you are!).
- Awards will be given beginning at 9:30 am in Memorial Stadium.
(Please refer to the Schedule of Events for details).
- Unofficial results will be posted on race day twenty minutes after the first person crosses the finish line in the Recovery Area (Memorial Stadium).
- Unofficial results will also be posted on the Seattle Marathon web site twenty minutes after the first person crosses the finish line
at http://www.seattlemarathon.org/. Have your friends and family check our website for up to the minute race results.
- Individual results will be mailed with a photo proof to each
finisher after the event by Action Sports of America. They can be
reached at (800) 783-2762.
- An official Results Booklet including complete Marathon and
Half Marathon results will be mailed to each finisher in January
2009.
Any potential changes to the unofficial results must
be submitted for consideration within three days by calling the
Seattle Marathon
Association office at 206-729-3660 or via e-mail at
info@seattlemarathon.org.

Course Markings/Split
Times
Each mile and five-kilometer marker will be clearly
labeled on the race courses. Split times will be called at each
marker (if permitted by the number of volunteers). Half Marathon
split times will be electronically recorded and available in
Marathon Results.

Water/Aid
Stations
There will be 15 Water/Aid Stations on the full
Marathon course; 10 on the Half Marathon course. Talking Rain water and Gatorade Endurance Formula sports drink will be available at each station,
in addition to basic medical items and portable toilets. GU
will be available between mile 5 and 6 for the Half Marathon and
mile 9 and 10 for the Full Marathon. Each of the Aid Stations
will remain open to support a 6-hour marathon run pace.

Race Time
Limit
Due to traffic and safety concerns, it is necessary
to officially re-open all event routes to regular vehicular traffic
at 2:15 p.m. This allows for a 7-hour Marathon Walk Finish and a
6-hour Marathon run finish. There will be limited on-course aid
stations, Course Marshals, and police support after the course
closes. Participants may continue along the course after the
official closure by obeying all standard traffic control devices.
Finish line staff and essential services will remain until every
athlete has completed the event. Additionally, all marathon
participants still on the I-90 floating bridge after 11:00 a.m. will
be bused to the end of the bridge and allowed to finish the marathon
(allows a 25 min/mile pace for walkers and an 18 min/mile pace for
runners).

Finisher
Medal
Each Marathon Run, Half Marathon Run, Marathon Walk
and Half Marathon Walk finisher will receive a commemorative
finisher’s medal.

Participant Shirt/Finisher Garments
Each participant will receive an
ASICS long-sleeved technical fabric shirt with the goody bag. A variety of other finisher garments (including t-shirts, sweatshirts,
fleeces, and hats) with the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon 2008 design are available for sale, and may be ordered in advance on the
entry form, online at www.seattlemarathon.org, at the EXPO, or in the Victory Recovery Area. Pre-ordered Finisher Shirts are available at a discount when ordered
on the entry form and will be higher at the event. XXL sizes must be pre-ordered on event form and will not be available at EXPO or in the Victory Recovery Area.

Victory Recovery
Area
Medical attention, hot soup, Talking Rain water and other
refreshments will be available in the Victory Recovery Area, located in the Seattle Center
Exhibition Hall. There will be
designated changing areas for men and women. Family and friends are
invited to relax and celebrate with their finishers in the family
reunion area in the Exhibition Hall.

Medical
Assistance
If medical assistance is required on the race course, contact one of the orange-capped radio operators, who will be able to summon emergency assistance or van transportation if required. If you drop out, please notify an aid station attendant, radio operator or anyone inside the information booth in the Victory Recovery Area so information can be relayed to the event support staff.

Massage and Acupuncture
The Washington Sports Massage Team will be
located in the Victory Recovery Area (Seattle Center Exhibition Hall). They will provide a
15-minute professional sports massage
to finishers for a $15 fee. Massages can be purchased on site or in
advance using the entry form.
Bastyr University will also be located in the Victory Recovery Area
(Seattle Center Exhibition Hall)
and will provide acupuncture to race finishers for a
$10.00 fee. Acupuncture can be purchased on site or in advance using
the entry form.

Photographs
Action Sports of America is the
Official Photographer for the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon 2008. All walk and run finishers will be photographed and mailed a
color proof within one week of the event. Enlargements can be
ordered through Action Sports of America. For more information, call

Awards
Overall
awards will be presented to the top three men and women of both the
Marathon and Half Marathon Run. Awards will be presented to the top ten
men and women in each age division in both the Marathon and Half
Marathon as follows: 19 and under, 20- 24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39,
40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over. Overall
Masters Division awards will be awarded to the fastest male and
female finisher in both events. Overall Wheelchair Division awards
will be presented to the fastest male and female wheelchair
finishers. Awards will be given to the top three men and women
overall for active military. There are no awards for the walking events.
Please refer to the schedule of events for
the times of each award ceremony. The awards ceremony will be
located in the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Awards will be available for pick-up in
the Victory Recovery Area until 5:30 p.m. Awards not picked up on race day
will be mailed.
