HERE IS SOME USEFUL INFORMATION FOR YOU

  1. Please check the registered volunteers list below to confirm your position(s). If you signed up for more than one position, we assigned you to all positions that did not overlap. If you would like to make any changes you can contact Amber Snapp.
  2. There is a parking lot at Gasworks Park, but parking is limited to about 150 spots (first come, first serve). There is plenty of free street parking in the area. This should not be a problem for anyone who is volunteering on Friday, however, if you are signed up to volunteer on Race Day, please allow yourself time to find street parking if you need to.
  3. Volunteer Check in is located inside the park. Head straight down the path towards the lake and look for the Volunteer Check-In/Info Booth sign just before the grass on your left hand side.
  4. Please feel free to dress casually/comfortably, but child friendly as this is a kids event as well.
  5. If you are going to be late or are unable to attend for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing Amber Snapp.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

SET-UP
Setting up the start and finish line and Recovery Areas.  Setting up table, tents, trash cans in the celebration area. Setting up registration, goody bags, clothing check, info table, and volunteer check in.  Separating the water station equipment.  Assisting the event company with set up of all areas. You may be asked to lift items over 15 lbs.

REGISTRATION + BIB PICK UP
Bibs are alphabetical by last name. Timing chips are attached the the back of the bib. The chip is recyclable and does not need to be returned after the race.

BAG CHECK
Runners use clothing check to store personal items during the race.  They will pick them up after the race is completed. When runners come up to the table hand them a bag and have them write their bib number and last name on the outside of the bag.  Participant will put items in the bag.  Tell runners to bring their bib when they pick up their bag. After start of race sort bags in numerical or alphabetical order so they are easy to find during pick up. Please keep area as secure as possible.

If you notice any suspicious items, or feel any sort of items through bags that may cause worry or alarm, please call the race director immediately. Her number is 206.396.4200. This is to ensure the safety of all of our runners, volunteers, and staff, in order to promote the spirit of our event.

When runners come to pick up their bags, ask the runners their last name and check their bib number against the bib number written on the bag.

FINISH LINE: WATER
Water bottles will be stacked on pallets in the finish chute. Hand a bottle to each finisher as they pass you.

FINISH LINE: SHIRTS AND GOODY BAGS
T-shirts should be laid out in size order, in their boxes.  Extras will be placed underneath the table.  Do not take shirts out of the box.  This keeps the shirts secure and organized.   Goody bags will be left in the boxes. Hand runner appropriate size shirt, and goody bags.   Please take the tag from the Runner’s Bib that says T-shirt.  As you empty boxes, please break them down.  At the end of your shift pile boxes.

RECOVERY AREA: RUNNERS FOOD TABLE
This food is for after the event not before. Prep the food to be easily handed out.  Keep items in boxes. Allow runners please to take one item each.  Use plastic gloves when handling food.  As boxes get used please break them down.  At the end of your shift, please take boxes to the dumpster.

KIDS FUN RUN + 10K ACTIVITIES
Make sure you are able to explain the instructions for your activity to participants. Monitor appointed activity. Hand out prizes or raffle tickets to those who complete the activity. Instruct participants to write their name and email on the ticket and turn it in to the raffle box on at the stage.

COURSE MARSHALS
You will be emailed your specific location. Go directly to your location on race day. Course Marshals are responsible for making sure participants stay are heading the right direction and stay safe on the course. During the race participants have the right of way on the course. If it is necessary at your location, stop crossing vehicles, bikes or pedestrians until it is safe for them to cross the course. If anyone is injured or needs to rest have them sit on the ground near your station, but not on the course. If they need medical attention inform the HAM radio operator at your station immediately. If there is not a HAM operator near by, call 911, then call Louise, the race director, at (206) 396-4200.

WATER STATIONS
Follow the instructions of your water station leader. Keep cups of water and Gatorade filled (no more than half full). Hold out cups to participants as they pass. If anyone is injured or needs to rest have them sit on the ground near the station, but not on the course. If they need medical attention inform the HAM radio operator at your station immediately. If there is not a HAM operator near by, call 911, then call Louise, the race director, at (206) 396-4200.

CLEAN-UP
Tear down of event areas and assist in loading trucks, cleaning park.  Please pick up all debris in your area and deposit in the nearest dumpster or recycle bin. At the end of the event take all extra items to the designated trucks. You may be asked to lift items over 15 lbs.
