Ambassador 2023
I am a first-generation Filipino American from Kennewick, Washington. I currently live in Salem, Oregon for the sole purpose of attending law school. My love for running started when I ran the Seattle Marathon in 2018. Shortly after, I doubled down on the sport. I went on to run the Point Defiance 50k Ultra Marathon in 2019 and then the Seattle Marathon again in 2021. My passion for running quickly grew into a passion for different modalities of fitness. In 2022, I decided to become a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator to break into the fitness industry and develop a basis for helping soldiers in my career as an officer in the Washington Army National Guard. My long-term goal is to develop more skills and credentials to best support communities of tactical athletes. However, my dream is to qualify for the Boston Marathon. To me, a qualifying time would be the pinnacle of what it means to have ‘made it’ in the running world. In fact, I care more about achieving a qualifying time than running the race.
Running is more than just a hobby for me. It’s what keeps me mentally and physically healthy. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing incremental progress every week. In other words, I love seeing the aggregation of marginal gains – the 1 percent margin for improvement in everything I do in this sport. The best part about it is that every one of my running milestones are 100% attributed to my own personal effort. Running will always be something that I do sua sponte. The 2018 Seattle Marathon was the start of this philosophy and will always have a special place in my heart.
