Melanie is a Boston born and bred runner who grew up in the shadows of the infamous Heartbreak Hill qualifying in 2020. It was cancelled due to the pandemic and a health scare kept her out most of 2021. As such, she has the distinct honor and bragging rights of never actually running the Boston Marathon.
Not one to collect medals (she routinely leaves them on headstones of local loved ones), she is happily committed to distance race #50 on her 50th trip around the sun this year with the Paris Marathon in April and the Seattle Marathon over Thanksgiving weekend.
A downtown Seattle resident since leaving active duty in 1999, you can find her most days greeting the sunrise along Myrtle Edwards Park. She is honored to be back as an ambassador this year and joins us in celebrating everyone’s success already!
